It's that time of year. The time of year where we ask you --our members and our friends --to give generously to LFA, Indiana Chapter, to help us continue to provide patient and caregiver support, education, and research dollars to find a cure for this terrible disease.
With two giving options (a one-time annual gift, or smaller monthly gifts throughout the year), it's easier than ever to donate. Most importantly, now through December 31st, our Board will match your donation dollar for dollar. Please don't wait! LFA, IN Chapter depends on your generosity to continue to provide programs and services for Hoosiers who suffer from lupus, so please, DONATE NOW, and have your donation doubled.

Monthly Support Groups
We hope you'll join us at one of our support group meetings this month! The philosophy of our support groups is to provide a warm and caring environment where people with lupus, their family members, caregivers, and loved ones can share their experiences, methods of coping, and insights into living with lupus.
LFA support groups help develop the best coping strategies to reduce stress that often accompanies living with a chronic illness.
December Support Group Schedule
The National Public Policy Summit on Lupus will be held June 26-27, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. Approximately 200 activists from across the country will bring their message to Congress seeking support for more lupus research funding for the National Institutes of Health and to elevate lupus on the nation’s health care agenda. More details to follow. RSVP now
If you are planning to attend, our Chapter would love to know. Please email Lisa.

It's almost time! LFA, IN Chapter begins our first monthly online support group in early 2017.
You asked for an online support group, and we're delivering. We launch the new support group early in 2017. Watch for more announcements via email or check our Facebook page, Instagram, or website for more details.
Classes are limited to 20 participants for now. Up to 10 webcams can be used at one time. If you don't have computer access, there will be a dial-in phone number to participate.
We're using Onstream media as our platform, and your two new facilitators, Brandi and Mike Fabel are excited to be a part of this support group expansion.

With the chronic pain and other health issues that many rheumatology patients face every day, it’s natural for rheumatologists and their patients to wonder if cannabinoid treatments are of any help. At this point, there is insufficient evidence to recommend cannabinoid treatments to manage rheumatic diseases, according to a review article published in the May issue of Arthritis Care & Research.1
"Lead author Mary-Ann Fitzcharles, MBChB, a rheumatologist at McGill University Health Centre, Montreal, Quebec, and colleagues used Medline, Embase and CENTRAL database searches to pinpoint studies that focused on cannabinoid use for pain, sleep, quality of life, tolerability and safety."

If the winter blues get you down, get the lift you need by planning your own fundraising event.
Plan a tail-gate friendly Superbowl Party, asking folks who attend for a donation to join the fun.
Hold a Valentine's Day raffle, getting a few tidbits together (a romantic dinner for two somewhere, two tickets to a romantic movie, or even a romantic gift basket), and sell tickets at church or at the office.
When lupus gives you lemons, set up a virtual lemonade stand --you never even have to leave the house to raise money for LFA, IN Chapter.
